Service Department Bike of the Week: 2003 Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Road King
Our Service Department Customer Bike Pick of the Week goes this 100th year anniversary Harley-Davidson Road King FLHRC-I. While we celebrate Harley-Davidson's 120th year with new color schemes, this motorcycle still deserves the deepest respect. This Vivid Black and Sterling Silver, one of several color choices for that year’s celebration models. Rumor has it that the pinstriping that lays on the fuel tank, has the word “Harley-Davidson” two thousand and three times. While I never found enough time to see if that count was true, I will leave that up to someone else!
Retaining its nearly stock configuration, this flagship in Harley-Davidson's lineup holds true to its classic form. With upgrades that include original Screamin’ Eagle mufflers to its all chromed out front end. However, this customer wanted a touch of modern with this handlebar mounted Rockford Fosgate Bluetooth speaker kit. Also attached for easy navigation is a Garmin Road Tech Zumo, to find your way back home.
When this Harley was ordered the customer was stationed in the Marine Corps in Germany. Coming back stateside to take delivery was something that this owner counted for each day. While this motorcycle has spent time on each coast, he enjoys most time spent riding for charity. Riding with his Marine buddies one day this motorcycle almost met its maker. The owner remembering that day and said to me, “It was close! I just avoided another stopped rider; it could have been game over.”
At just over 5500 miles, this Harley will make it to the next several anniversaries that Harley Davidson will celebrate. This is one clean and spotless bike, just like the boots that this Marine once wore while serving our country. Thank you for your service. Semper Fi
If you would like to stop and see this Road King, it will be here in the service department on display for one week.
